IMG_0721 Grape Varieties: 63% Syrah, 16% Cabernet Franc, 16% Malbec, 4% Merlot.

Very good wine with red plums, currents and black raspberries over baking spice and cacao with a floral note. The medium tannins are ripe and round balancing the medium minus acidity. The wine has good complexity. The finish is medium plus and sweet. Drink now and for 3-4 years.

Suyai 2007 by Terra Andino

IMG_0697 Grape variety: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 13% Carignan, 7% Carmenère.

Outstanding wine with ripe black plums and black cherries over baking spice and anise with a mineral note. The medium plus tannins are ripe and balance the medium acidity giving good structure. The fruit concentration and intensity are both medium plus. The wine has good complexity and a long minus sweet finish. Drinking well now and will for 5-6 more years.

Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 by Concha y Toro

IMG_0685 Grape Variety: 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc

Very good plus wine showing black cherry and plums, with dried figs loaded over sweet bakers spices and a savoury black olive note. The wine has good complexity and medium plus fruit concentration. The medium tannins are rounded and give good structure with the medium minus acidity. The finish is long. Drink now will improve for 2-3 years and drink for 6-7 years.

CHONO San Lorenzo Estate 2009 by Geo Wines

Grape Varieties: Blend of Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc

Very good plus wine with dark plums over ripe red berries with cocoa, dried herbs and mineral notes. The tannins are grippy but mature and balance the medium acidity. The fruit is very concentrated and the wine has medium plus intensity. Drink now and for 3-5 years.

Red Vintage 2007 by Viña Leyda

Grape Variety: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carmenere, 15% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Franc.

Good wine with mixed red berry and dark plums with baking spice, fresh herbs and touch of cigar box. The medium tannins are a bit green (but will reslve in time) and the the acid is medium minus. The fruit has good concentration. Drink now and for 3-4 years.

Triple C 2005 by Viña Santa Rita

Grape Variety: 65% Cabernet Franc; 30% Cabernet Sauvignon; 5% Carménère

Outstanding minus wine with mixed red berries and currents, baking spice, chocolate and note of fresh cut flowers. The fruit has a high concentration and intensity. The medium tannins are ripe and round and balance the medium plus acidity. The length is long minus. Drink now and for 5 years.

Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 by Viña Errázuriz

Grape Variety: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc

Good plus wine with black and red fruit profile, baking spice and note of bell pepper. The wine has medium rounded tannins and medium acidity giving it good structure. The wine has good fruit concentration and medium plus length. The wine will age well for 5-6 years.

Don Melchor 2005 by Choncha y Toro

Outstanding wine with black current and dark plums over touch of red fruits, cedar box , baking spices, tobacco, chocolate and leather notes. This wine has concentrated fruit of medium plus intensity. The high tannins are ripe, round and complement the medium plus acidity giving great structure. The length is long. Drinking very well now and will for 8-10 more years.

Gran Reserva Blend 2009 by Viña Chocalan

Grape Variety: 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Syrah, 15% Malbec, 10%, Cabernet Franc, 9 % Carmenère, 4% Petit Verdot

Good wine with good complexity and fruit intensity. The mixed jammy red and black fruit are backed with a touch of baking spice and an earthy note. The tannins are medium and round, the medium acidity adds structure. Drink now and for the next 3-4 years.

Haras Elegance 2008 by Viña Haras de Pirque

Grape Variety:  85% Cabernet sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 3% Cabernet franc

Very good wine with mixed red berry, black plum, sweet baking spice and laurel notes. The medium plus tannins are round and mature. The fruit has good concentration. The wine is well structured and will age well. Drink now and over the next 10 years.
